Philippe Starck designed this boutique hotel located a little out
of the way, in the 20th, but it has become the hip center of a
rapidly up-and-coming area called SoPig (yes, that's really the nickname) -- Paris' answer to Nolita. One of the forces majeurs behind the project is the Trigano family,
best-known for turning the Club Med chain into a worldwide phenomenon. The Mama Shelter
concept is a high-design and highly-affordable hotel that minimizes
overhead while providing their guests everything they might
need: iMacs in every room with integrated
television, music and DVD controls, bathrooms with rain showers, heated
towel racks, and Kiehl's products galore. The beds are plush with
super-soft sheets and the decor is cute without being annoying.
The best part, however, is the rooftop patio. Sadly though, the tiki-inspired terrace is available for
private hire only ranging from 49€ -79€ per person for lunch and dinner, respectively. It's a pretty good deal because with the price tag comes a three-course meal, 360 views of the city, and a whole lotta atmosphère.
